My new car

A few days ago I got my new sponsor car from my partner “Porsche Klagenfurt”. Until now I been driving with a black Skoda Octavia Combi and now they switched me to a silver Skoda Octavia Combi. It is a beautiful car with a sporty design and great interior.

Jasmin at the University

The University of Klagenfurt invited me to a very special panel discussion with other athletes about how our sport changed us, what we learned through our sport and we also looked at social aspects. Before we had the chance to talk about our experiences, a popular Austrian book author “Franzobel” read a few lines from his book “Cordoba”.

Another special guest was Verena Bentele from Germany. She is a blind Paralympic biathlete and cross-country skier and she is a 4 – times World champion and 10 – times Paralympics champion. It was incredible when she talked about her way to the top, how she trains and what she learned from her sport.

Car Convention in Klagenfurt

It was time again for the yearly car convention in Klagenfurt. One of the main attractions were the cars from the Porsche Inter Auto Group, a company that sells Porsche, Audi, VW and Skoda. The Porsche Inter Auto has 56 businesses in Austria. One of them is Porsche Klagenfurt my sponsor partner. At the convention you could see the new models of 2012 and they also did a raffle where someone could win the new VW Up.

Marco Ventre, a popular musician and “dancing star” participant, performed a few songs to entertain the crowd.

My trainer and I were there to support my sponsor partner and help with the raffle.

I am driving a Skoda Octavia Combi and I am very happy with this car. It is elegant, sporty, powerful and safe.

Billiard Sport Academy Opening

On April the 11th. 2012 my trainer and I officially opened the “Billiard Sport Academy Jasmin Ouschan” in my hometown Klagenfurt. Together with our politicians governor Gerhard Dörfler, major Christian Scheider, town councilor for sports Jürgen Pfeiler and the press/media we spend one afternoon in our facility to give them a little journey into our beautiful sport.

The academy is located in our beautiful stadium which was built for the European Soccer Championships in 2008. The facility is called Sportpark Klagenfurt where the soccer academy is also located. Being in a stadium like that is a huge step for our sport and we are really happy that after 1 1/2 years of hard work we are finally done.

Within the next weeks we will also launch the official Billiard Sport Academy website, where you can find a ll the information about our academy and training sessions!

We have also updated our logo so that it fits with the academy logo and we will also changed that on our website as soon as possible.

European Championships 2012

It is time once again for the biggest event in Europe, the European Championships, this year in Luxembourg. In 10 days 128 men and 64 women are competing for the titles in 4 disciplines (Straight Pool, 8-Ball, 10-Ball, 9-Ball). This year we will also have a team competition at the end.

“It is truly one of my hardest events in the season because I have to compete in 4 disciplines within 10 days. My trainer and I just came back from Taipei/Taiwan so the jetlag is also an issue here. But I feel good and I am ready.”

WPA Amway Cup in Taiwan

I already played one event this year but the season really kicks off with the first world ranking event of 2012, the Amway Cup in Taipei/Taiwan. For many years we have played at this event in Taipei and it is still one of the best tournaments that we have on the women’s tour. I am really looking forward to play in Taiwan’s capital. Once again the event will be held at the Taimall shopping center in Taoyuan. The press conference will be on the 14^th of March and the matches will start on Thursday the 15^th of March. By that time I will have more information and the players chart.

48 players will compete in 8 groups of 6 for the prestigious title. In the group stages it is a race to 7 and the top 3 of every group will advance to the final round. The Nr. 1 player of every group will be seeded into final round 2.

Trickshots for Coca Cola

Right after the WPBA Masters in Michigan, my trainer and I went back home to do a trickshot show at the Coca Cola conference in Vienna. After a long day of work the top managers from all over the globe spend some relaxing time on the billiard tables. For 30 min. I showed them what magic on the pool table looks like!

I had a great time there and the people were really nice.

WPBA Masters 2012

The new season kicks off in Mount Pleasant/Michigan at the beautiful Soaring Eagle Resort. It is time again for the 2012 WPBA Masters, a tournament that I was able to win last year. From the 26th until the 29th of January, 48 of the best women players will compete for the Masters title. Since I didn´t play at the last event in Lincoln City, I will be seeded as the Nr.3 in this tournament. On Wednesday the 25th we will have a Pro/Am Charity night at the venue.

“2011 was a tough year for me but looking back, the WPBA Masters was one of the best moments. Of course I want to defend my title but right now I am just looking forward to the first match.”

Day 1

My first match will be today (Thursday 27th) at 8 pm against either Barbara Lee or Laura Smith both from the USA. You can follow my results through my Live Report on the website or through Twitter (JOuschanLive).

Match 1 (Jasmin Ouschan vs. Laura Smith 9:6)

The first match against Laura Smith was not all satisfying for me. The beginning was okay but after a few mistakes I was a little off which allowed Smith to come back. Finally at 8:6 for me I was able to finish it. I was not playing on the top of my game but it was the first match so I am okay with it.

Match 2 (Jasmin Ouschan vs. Nicole Keeney 9:6)

My second match was better than my first one but I was still not playing on the top of my game. I was in control of the match but there were many mistakes and that made the match run long. But in the end I won with a 9:6 score.

Match 3 (Jasmin Ouschan vs. Kelly Fisher 9:8)

The match against Kelly Fisher was definitely a drama. I started great and took a rapid 6:2 lead but then I switched myself off somehow and Fisher came back strong. She then took a 6:8 lead but the match turned around again and I was making the important balls. At 8:8 we were both missing but I managed to be the last woman standing. I won 9:8!

Match 4 (Jasmin Ouschan vs. Allison Fisher 7:9)

After a little break I had to play ” the duchess of doom” Allison Fisher. The match went back and forth until I missed some horrible balls in the end. Even though I lost this match 7:9 I still consider it as my best match at this event.

Match 5 (Jasmin Ouschan vs. Eva Laurance 6:9)

Since we were playing double knock out system, I had antoher chance to get a spot for the semi final. I faced Eva Laurance, a veteran on this tour. She had some good matches before that and I knew that this might be a tough match. The match started bad for me and Laurance was up 5:1 in a short time. But then I started my engine again and came back to 6:5 for me. Unfortunately I had no energy left in me and Eva played well and used her chances. I had to accept a tough 6:9 defeat.

But congrats to Eva Laurance who won the event later!!!

FIS Ski World Cup in Austria

My trainer and I were invited to be a part of the FIS Ski World Cup in Bad Kleinkirchheim, about 45 minutes from my hometown Klagenfurt. It was the downhill womens competition and it is just impressive what these women accomplish. The favorite and leading women Lindsey Vonn from the USA did not have her best day and only finished 3rd. But it was a successfull day for Austrian Elisabeth Goergl who showed an awesome performance and managed to win this downhill race. In the VIP area I also met Franz Klammer (AUT) one of the legends in this sport and Fritz Strobl, former Olympic champion.

“It was really cool to be a part of this event and it is amazing what these women accomplish by racing down the hill with close to 70 miles per hour”!
